Fusion HCR is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with an established industrial marketplace organization. The company provides maintenance, repair, and operations products and services through an extensive North American network, supporting customers across industrial automation, mechanical power transmission, hydraulics, electrical systems, and material handling. This role will contribute to the modernization of enterprise sales technology and cloud-native platforms. The successful candidate will combine advanced Java expertise with architectural leadership, hands-on development, and technical mentorship. This is a fully remote position for an experienced engineer who can design scalable solutions, guide distributed teams, and help advance engineering standards across a complex enterprise environment.

Position Overview

Fusion HCR is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the modernization of a high-impact sales technology portfolio. This position will own application architecture, technical roadmaps, and solution designs supporting the quote-to-invoice lifecycle. The engineer will design and deliver resilient Java microservices, SaaS solutions, and distributed applications using Java 21 and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

The role combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on execution. Responsibilities include guiding globally distributed development teams, mentoring engineers, strengthening Agile delivery practices, and promoting automated testing, CI/CD, documentation, and scalable engineering standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience modernizing enterprise applications and building cloud-native, event-driven systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define application architecture, technical roadmaps, and solution designs for a large sales application portfolio.

  • Design, develop, and deploy resilient, high-performance Java microservices and SaaS solutions.

  • Build and support cloud-native applications using Google Cloud Platform and Cloud Functions.

  • Lead application modernization efforts, including legacy-system evaluation, migration planning, and cloud adoption.

  • Design scalable APIs, enterprise integrations, and distributed, event-driven architectures.

  • Guide and coordinate globally distributed development teams.

  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote continuous technical learning.

  • Champion Agile and Scrum practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and technical documentation.

  • Establish and improve engineering standards, application strategies, and delivery practices.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience building and supporting enterprise-scale software applications.

  • Expert-level experience with Java, including Java 21 features such as Streams, functional programming, Futures, virtual threads, and CompletableFuture.

  • Strong experience with Spring Boot or Quarkus and enterprise microservices architecture.

  • Experience designing distributed, event-driven systems and scalable REST APIs.

  • Proficiency with API design and integration, JDBC, ORM frameworks, SQL, and MongoDB.

  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience with Git-based source control, Agile or Kanban delivery, and CI/CD practices.

  • Demonstrated experience leading application modernization or greenfield SaaS initiatives.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Google Pub/Sub, Apache Kafka, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and Jira experience preferred.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
