Position Overview

Fusion HCR is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to support geotechnical, environmental, and civil engineering projects for a firm serving the Mid-Atlantic. The position focuses on developing geotechnical design recommendations and supporting projects from planning and field investigation through construction. You will provide technical input to project managers on scopes of work, cost estimates, field investigations, sampling, and laboratory analysis. You will also assist with construction plans and specifications, make periodic site visits with clients, and review construction submittals. The role is suited to an experienced geotechnical engineer who can apply technical expertise, communicate effectively, and contribute to project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare geotechnical design recommendations for project needs.

  • Advise project managers on cost estimates and scopes of work.

  • Provide input on field investigations, sampling plans, and laboratory analysis.

  • Assist in preparing construction plans and project specifications.

  • Conduct periodic site visits with clients and review construction submittals.

  • Apply geotechnical engineering software, including MicroStation, GeoPak, Slide, GRLWEAP, A-pile, and L-pile.

  • Coordinate technical findings and project recommendations with project stakeholders to support clear, consistent project delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related engineering field.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or a reciprocating state.

  • At least seven years of experience in geotechnical engineering design, at least three of which should be in a large Project and/or team leadership role.

  • Federal Government related project experience highly desired.

  • Proficiency with MicroStation, GeoPak, Slide, GRLWEAP, A-pile, and L-pile.

  • Demonstrated professional and technical verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to provide examples of previous design work is preferred.
